It took me a while to think of what to do for a self portrait, I think it was mostly because I was trying to avoid it. But I guess every camera enthusiast is bound to give in and jump on the bandwagon

Voila!....

This is my first attempt at the Strobist style.

Ingredients:
1 x Stone Chair
1 x 580 EX II
1 x Canon 400D
1 x 24-105mm f/4 L
1 x Strobe Stand
1 x Bag of afternoon sunshine
1 x Kawen!

Taken at 5:30pm in the afternoon with a combination of Speedlite and Sunlight, resulted in 2 strobalicious photos! (btw that probably isn't a word but you get what i mean hehe.)

I like things that are made out of stone, they have a certain primitive quality to them that is so fascinating, and to think that castles, temples and monuments were built with this material. Such brilliant craftsmanship don't you think!
Sah-pah-to - shoes
When I was younger and trying to absorb the Filo language a lady once told me that it was pronounced as thaa-paa-toh ... yeah right, only if you have a lisp! haha. I laugh now thinking about the possible trauma and humiliation that this would have caused me if I believed her LOL .

I used the speedlite this evening for this photo, am thinking I'll use it a bit more often otherwise it will just be a waste of $$. While I was having fun taking photos, I discovered that my tripod has started to fall apart. I guess the saying "buy cheap, buy twice" holds true.
It's amazing what you can find while sorting through junk! Rust, although degrading and damaging, can be quite an interesting texture .... don't you think?
Can an object really bring good fortune? Or is it just the will of the Universe?
I wonder if the Pros have notebooks to write their ideas in? I always got taught to write things down so that I wouldn't forget it. It's one of those lessons in life that help us along the way but we take for granted..... Just like a photograph words can help us capture that thought or moment so we can go back to it later....
Chinela - slippers
The most comfiest chinelas/sinelas/chinelos/thongs/flip-flops ever! Trusty Ipanemas!

I took this photo in the carport as I though the terracotta concrete would make a nice backdrop.
I think of it now and I wish i did the same shot on some sand at the beach, looks like a trip to the beach is coming up!
There are so many things around Darwin that are so epic fail! Take this tap (Double tap/ tap-tap?) for instance, gee! I don't even know what to call it haha. I came across this while on one of my afternoon walks.
The Gate ..... I remember coming home late one night and waking up to find that my lil Hyundai Excel had rolled back into it! ahihihi :)
